Summer Camps

A Christ centered experience in a fun and safe environment!

DEAR CAMPER ~ A LETTER FOR YOU!

Welcome to summer camp!

Agapé or Kure Beach summer camp has been, and will always be, a FUN and unique way to meet new friends and build on old relationships. Come out to camp for the very first time, or the 100th time. You won't be disappointed!

What is a typical day at camp like?

Each day at camp is packed with age appropriate activities which may include: swimming, hiking, nature time with Mir (our onsite naturalist and silly hat specialist), songs, stories, skits, campfires, worships, discovery times (Bible study), crafts, archery, canoeing, GaGa Ball, Fun Bugs, sleep-outs, and more. Of course the best part of camp is spending time with a cool counselor and being surrounded by the love of God in a unique place apart.

Camp Week: Most weeks begin Sunday with check in (3:30 - 4:30 pm) and close Friday (1:30 - 2:30 pm). Camp Agapé resident campers check in at the Woodlands Center. Surf campers check in at the Kure Beach Faith Center (Surf Camp closes on Thursday).

Our Summer Staff

Agapé † Kure Beach staff is a small group of dedicated, well-trained, Christian young adults. Your staff is prepared to ensure a safe, fun, quality experience of living your faith in an intentional Christian community. All staff are Red Cross First Aid & CPR certified, certified lifeguards and challenge course staff will be on duty at all waterfront, group building, and adventure activities (zip-line). Most importantly, our staff lives their faith in daily life and practices the love of God with all campers.

Your summer staff is trained and led by our Program Director, Christa Drengler; our onsite Naturalist, Mir Youngquist-Thurow; and by Randy Youngquist-Thurow, our Executive Director, AIM & CCD. Combined they share over 65 years of camp staff leadership.

Day Camp
Bring camp to your own community! Bring camp to your town! Day Camp is a superb way to bring the talents of our wonderful staff to your neighborhood. It’s summer camp in your church! This is a five-day program for 1st - 8th grades only. This year we are serving 25 churches and communities around North Carolina. Call now to find out where they are located and see if we’re at a community near you!

Confirmation Camp This is a dynamic, experiential, way of learning catechetical material. The community built and relationships formed are wonderful in helping the material make an impact in the confirmand’s life. Clusters of congregations form, and class size is not an issue. Confirmation Camp runs weeks #2, & 5.

Registration for Day Camp, and Confirmation Camp is by groups only. Contact Christa at 919.552.9421 or at program@agapekurebeach.org for more information or to register.

Campership Assistance Is Available To Anyone In Need

The David L. Castor Campership Fund exists to help make camp affordable. Simply request campership assistance and we will do what we can to make sure everyone can attend a week of camp. Financial concerns are never a good reason for denying a child the opportunity to experience the Spirit of God in a unique place apart under the careful supervision of a committed Christian young adult (counselor).

More Camp FunThis all means you have three options when paying for your week of camp:

  1. Pay the full cost of a week at camp.

  2. Pay the set fee (subsidized)

  3. Pay what you can and ask for Campership assistance. Contact Kyle at 919.552.9421 for the Campership form.

It is our policy that no camper be turned away from a camp experience due to the lack of financial means.

REGISTRATION

Register online here. If registering online is not an option or you prefer a paper registration, contact Kyle at agape@agapekurebeach.org or 919.552.9421.
