Chandler is an ordained Deacon in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. He comes to A†KB Ministries from working with ELCA World Hunger and Lutheran Disaster Response. Chandler served as Vice President for Program and Engagement and Interim Lutheridge Program Director at NovusWay Ministries, Associate Director for Outreach and Engagement at Lutheran World Relief, and Director of Theological Education with Youth at United Lutheran Seminary.
A native of Wilmington, he is the spouse of the Rev. Naomi Sease Carriker, and the father of Jonathan. When he's not at camp, Chandler gets creative through songwriting and fired up cheering on his San Antonio Spurs and Chicago Cubs.
Mir has been at Agape since 1996 “playing in the woods with kids” of all ages. Originally from Minnesota, she brings a lot of camp and naturalist experience from MN, WI, and PA. She has a passion for helping guests appreciate the wonders of God’s Creation at Agape and at Kure Beach.
Molly Heffner, a graduate of UNC Wilmington, spent four years on summer staff at Agapé. In 2018, she completed a YAGM year of service in Australia in an outdoor ministry setting. Molly is returning to Agapé after a year of working at Green Lake Lutheran Ministries in Minnesota, where she served as a Ministry Associate as well as an Assistant Program Director. She is passionate about making sure every camper feels loved and valued for who they are.
While earning his Bachelor in Psychology and Music at Syracuse University (Go Orange!), David worked summers at Agapé. After graduation, David spent 6 months in Colorado
at Rainbow Trail Lutheran Camp in their Program Assistant internship learning the ins and outs of Outdoor Ministry. David is ecstatic to be back at Agapé, the place that sparked his love for camping ministry! He strongly believes in teaching every camper that they are a unique, loved child of God, perfectly made, exactly as they are. Because of this, Agapé’s small group, affirmation-focused ministry is the perfect place for him to share his talents!
Kyle has worked at Camp Agapé since 2017, & worked in the Lutheran Camp community since 2010. When he is not cooking inclusive meals for Agapé's many guests, he is listening to music, foraging Camp's 624 acres for mushrooms, or trying to convince staff & friends to join in playing tabletop RPGs.
Nancy grew up in rural upstate New York. She moved to North Carolina in 2016 and got her start at Agapé in 2017 as an ACE Educator. She has since taken on the position of camp Office/Donor Relations Manager. In addition to her office duties, Nancy enjoys occasionally working with school field trips as an ACE Educator.
Penny got her start at Agapé hiking the woods as an ACE educator. In 2007 she was hired to work in the office as the Capital Campaign Coordinator. Since then she has taken on Agapé's marketing responsibilities.
